The purpose of treating timber is to protect it from insect attack, fungal decay which makes it last longer. Without treatment, many species of timber including radiata pine are not suitable for use in terminte or decay prone situations.

Timber treatment substantially extends the service life of timber, particularly for lower durability regrowth and plantation timbers such as Radiata pine.

This is why timber treatment has become such a common product for use in landscaping, play-grounds, retaining walls, jetties and bridges, pole frame houses and many other outdoor applications.
